Regal Short Carbon Fx Saddle

REGAL SHORT CARBON FX SADDLE

Innovation and Comfort for Bikepacking
and Gravel from Selle San Marco

A comfortable saddle for all adventures

Today I want to share with you my experience with the new Regal Short saddle by Selle San Marco, a saddle designed specifically for bikepacking and the gravel.

We are well aware of how the saddle is one of the most important components of the bicycle, in fact it is the point on the bicycle where most of the body weight is unloaded. It therefore turns out to be crucial to have a saddle convenient to be able to spend many hours in the saddle comfortably. The choice of saddle is often highly thought out by most cyclists, and it is not always the case that the saddle purchased will be comfortable right out of the box. For this reason, it is advisable to have a saddle testing period to be able to get comfortable so that the saddle fits your anatomical shape. In addition to this, I recommend wearing bib with a comfortable and thick bottom, I will write future articles on the models I use most.

For proper saddle fitting, it is always good to use the biomechanical examination. Only a specialist can correctly position your saddle, adjusting its height, forward, or backward alignment.

In recent years we have seen how saddles and their design have undergone a real evolution. Now saddles of different types can be found, and in my long experience of bicycle riding I have seen and tried hundreds of different models. However, we could divide this area into saddles with a center hole or without. Another element that distinguishes saddles is the materials from which they are made, carbon or aluminum. In my later years I have often opted for a carbon saddle not only to make the bicycle as light as possible, but also because I prefer certain characteristics of this material.

The test

After more than a month of riding in Sicily, I have gained enough experience to tell you about the saddle Regal Short by Selle San Marco. Selle San Marco è una delle historical companies manufacturers of saddles in Italy, in fact boasts a history that goes back to 1935 and is a company that invests heavily in the industry by continuously innovating its products. In my career, I have the honor of working with them as a ambassador and on organizing cycling events. Last December, I decided to spend a month of cycling in my homeland, Sicily, and was thus able to put the Regal Short in Sicilian roads, which, as many know, are not exactly the best in terms of asphalt quality.

I therefore had the opportunity to be able to test the saddle on uneven terrain. Fortunately, I adapt quickly to saddles, and I must say that the feeling I had with the saddle Selle San Marco’s Regal Short has been great right from the start.

During my bike rides, I had a chance to put the Regal Short with the central hole. I must say, the difference is noticeable! This specific feature significantly reduces pressure on the perineal area, making every pedal stroke more relaxing and comfortable. What truly impressed me, however, is its incredible stiffness. Thanks to its unique high-performance nylon structure reinforced with carbon fibers, the saddle retains its shape while remaining incredibly lightweight. This intelligent material, with varying thickness and ribbing, enhances rigidity without adding extra weight to the saddle.

Now, let’s turn to the rails: they are a real technological treat. Made of ultralight carbon fiber and with an oval cross-section (9 mm x 7 mm), these rails exploit DNA technology (Dynamic Node Action) patented. An intelligent system that prevents twisting and keeps the front of the saddle tight, allowing unparalleled freedom of movement while pedaling. Not only that, the carbon rails further strengthen the structure, also providing wider adjustment of the saddle. It should be mentioned that these rails, may require a Adapter for some types of seatposts.

La Texfeel cover Is a nice touch that really makes a difference. This special cover, which mimics the feel of fabric, combines traditional comfort with practicality. It is a pleasure to touch, easy to clean and keeps the saddle in perfect condition for longer.

Finally, a special mention goes to the low-density biodynamic foam. This innovative foam, with its variable structure, adapts perfectly to the movements of my pelvis during the ride. The result? An unparalleled comfort, lightness, durability and an ideal support that accompanies me on every adventure

Last, but not least, is its weight: only 220 grams. With its carbon rails and Open-Fit design, the Regal Short once again proves itself as a gem of innovation in the world of saddles.

Special Offer

In conclusion, the Regal Short saddle from Selle San Marco is not only a high-quality product that combines tradition and innovation, it is also an example of how careful design can make a difference on long rides. Whether you are a gravel enthusiast, bikepacker, or simply a lover of long distances on two wheels, the Regal Short is a choice I highly recommend considering.
