When and how it takes place
The course is conducted in 3 modules to be taken on Zoom (I will email you the link):
February Session:
Monday 10 from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. – Module 1
Wednesday 12 from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. – Module 2
Thursday 13 from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. – Module 3
First module
- Introduction and presentation of teaching methods
- Safety first: safety rules of bicycling
- Types of bikes to tackle a trip: Gravel, Trekking, Running or Electric
- Travel modes: classic configuration, bikepacking and carts
- Basic equipment: what not to miss
- Technical clothing: analysis of the most commonly used garments for cycling
Second Module
- Overnight stays : overnight equipment, basic outdoor hints, choosing a bike hotel
- Route planning: maps and charts, brief hints of planning software
- Brief background on navigators : Garmin & Wahoo Some travel tips
- Unchangeable principles and freedom of interpretation of bicycle travel.
- Basic mechanics: what you need to know before you hit the road.
- Homework : plan a three-day itinerary.
Third module
- Review and correction of homework. In turn, participants will present their proposals
- The pre-departure review
- The daily check
- Emergency repairs
- Travel Experiences: Valdarno – Bari & Sea2Sea4Equality
- Extreme Experiences: Lazio Trail, Tuscany Trail & North Cape 4000
- How I plan a trail.
- Turning one’s passion into a profession and the ethical value of being a cycle traveler in today’s society
